Courtney Lee to Celtics in sign and trade
For those Wizards fans still dreaming about Courtney Lee landing in Washington, it's time to move on.
Boston has reached a sign-and-trade agreement with Houston for the 6-foot-5 Lee, according to Yahoo's Marc Spears. The package heading to the Rockets will include rising, JaJuan Johnson, E'Twaun Moore, Sean Williams and Charlotte's second round ick owned by the Celtics.
One of the top defensive wing guards in the league, Lee also shot 40.7 from beyond the arc last season. Realistically, even though buzz existed about the Wizards interest, there was never really a fit or likelihood Lee would land in Washington, especially after the team drafted Bradley Beal with the third overall pick.
As for the Celtics, Lee is the latest notable offseason acquisition for the Eastern Conference runners-up, joining Jason Terry plus first round picks Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo. Boston lost Ray Allen to Miami, but retained Kevin Garnett. Add in the starry play of Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo and the Celtics are on paper better and deeper than they were a season ago.
The Wizards could stand to add a shooter and free agent Roger Mason remains available. Perhaps not the dreamiest of additions, but solid and, perhaps most of all, tangible.
