Boston Celtics Re-Signing Brandon Bass
The Boston Celtics have reportedly agreed to terms with power forward Brandon Bass on a three-year deal, according to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald:

With Boston re-signing Bass and acquiring free-agent shooting guard Jason Terry, the Celtics certainly look like they are preparing for life without Ray Allen.
The Celtics signed Terry to a three-year deal worth $15 million, according to ESPN. While the details on Bass' contract aren't public yet, he made $4.3 million last year and played well, which most likely means the new terms of his contract are around that level.
Just a few days ago, Doc Rivers said (via ESPN) that the Celtics aren't moving on from Allen and they "really want Ray back."
The recent signing of Bass, though, throws a wrench in the Celtics' plans of trying to re-sign Allen.
If having both Avery Bradley and Jason Terry on the roster wasn't a big enough issue, the Celtics have now limited themselves financially by committing to Bass.
While the Celtics definitely have enough cap space to make a run at Allen, they won't be able to match the offers of other teams. The L.A. Lakers could offer him three years at the mid-level exception of $5 million per year, according to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald.
According to the same source, the Boston Celtics are looking to offer Allen a two-year contract worth $12 million, which would include a no-trade clause.
While that's less money than the Lakers, it is more than the Heat, who'd only be looking to add Allen for a mini mid-level exception of $3 million per year for a maximum of three years.
It appears that landing Allen is going to come down to whether he wants a legitimate chance to play for an NBA championship, or if he's more fixated on playing for the most money he can get.
This could be the end of the line for Ray Allen and the Celtics, as the Lakers can offer more money and the Heat can offer a better shot at another NBA title.
So after signing Terry and Bass, it's evident that the Celtics have to hold onto the hope that Allen will remain loyal to the franchise that brought him his first ring, as opposed to chasing more money or taking his talents to South Beach.
With all that has transpired, if the Celtics start the 2012-13 season without Allen, they will only have themselves to blame.
